I KNOW! That's why I'm here. Now that we're done yelling at each other, can we start figuring this shit out? Thank you.
I've always been obsessed with luxury travel. Why? Because it's SO much better. The only problem is, I'm not Jordan Belfort and I can't afford it.
So instead of just resigning myself to a life of cramped seats, small rooms and dreadful travel I decided to take the bull by the horns and buck the system and other puns.
I dove in head first to the credit card points/miles game and have come a long way in a short time. The craziest part of this whole thing?
It's not as hard as you think. You can live your dream.
That's right, Schmidt. I'm excited too.
Now, I'm not going to pretend like it's easy. You don't just get status. You don't just get upgrades. You work for it. But it's a lot easier than you think. Does it always work? No.
This game is about putting yourself in the best possible situation to succeed.
Sometimes there's nothing you can do, but when opportunity knocks and someone gets bumped for a flight or there's a suite open? Be ready to kick the damn door down.
Throughout this journey we're going to utilize all the major pillars of obtaining luxury status:
-Credit Card Sign-Up Bonus
-Credit Card Spend
-Status Shortcuts through Credit Cards
As you can see, I didn't mention much about actually flying or staying in hotels. That's because most points and miles aren't earned by actually traveling.
If you don't have a credit card yet, I will walk you through that process as well. Credit cards are a big part of this. The biggest, actually. So get over your fears and forget the horror stories you're told by the mainstream media.
We will establish a sound, responsible plan to not only rack up miles and points, but build your credit and flexibility along with it.
So strap in or suit up, whatever floats your boat.
